Legislative and Government Experience

• Re-design of California Web Page - worked with Gov.Davis Office of Research and Planning Team and participating in three District Workshops (participants included educators, community members, non-profits, private industry, and other interested citizens) in developing the CA Web Portal and strategy for improved e-government and e-citizenship (Year 2000 effort). See e-Government survey results of July 2000 LEAD Workshop (click here for PDF file).

• IT Strategic Plan for California - Chairperson for developing the State of California IT Strategic Planning process. Working with Accenture, former CA Dept. of Information Technology (DOIT), and 80 State Chief Information Officers; planned and developed IT strategic plan for improved CA IT infrastructure. Worked with IT Strategic Planning Team for 1 year - 2001.

• Strategic Plan for National Council on Urban Indian Health - assisted NCUIH with developing organization strategic planning process and plan (1998-1999).

• Community Advocate for improved Health Care for Native Americans – UCLA Health Information Survey, UC Irvine Native American Health Project, and California Healthy Families (years 2000-2003).

• Federal Recognition Process and Administrative Native American (ANA) Grant writing (economic development, culture preservation, and environment).

• Event Chairperson for California Indian Days, held at the State Capitol (year 2004 and 2005).

CURRENT LEGISLATIVE CALIFORNIA TRIBAL ISSUES

U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, CA Central Agency Policy Committee member (elected in March 2005), Representing Area VII - Public Domains and Alottment Lands. Assisting with assessment of Law Enforcement services/issues near and on Tribal lands - working with CA State Attorney General's - Native American Affairs Office, Inter-Tribal Council of California, and U.S. BIA CA Central Agency Policy Sub-Committee Tribal members (next conference call meeting January 16, 2006, next U.S. BIA CA Central Agency Budget meeting - March 2006, location to be determined).

- Cultural Lands Act. Native American Heritage Commission is seeking tribal input to the implementation of SB 18.
