Audrey Martinez, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, promotes the concept of expanding beyond just a gaming business. Pictured from left to right: Viejas (Virginia Christman, Tribal Councilmember), San Manual Band of Mission Indians (Audrey Martinez, Tribal Secretary/Treasurer), and Oneida Nation of Wisconsin (Kathy Hughes, Tribal Vice-Chair) members. Dr. Ron Christman, member of Viejas, provided "ground breaking" ceremonial song from his tribe. These songs are traditional bird songs that promoted strength, moving forward, and support for mother earth. Paul Ninham, Tribal Council member from Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, provided opening prayer for "ground breaking" ceremony. Paul speaks in his traditional language.

 

Developers, other investors, tribal members, and news press are viewing the "ground breaking" ceremony for this new Marriott hotel in Sacramento. Opening in year 2006.
